Come and knock on our door...

Yep, we've got a front door! Ryan and I went out to the house after we put Brody to bed last night (don't worry - Mimi & Pa were home with him) and installed the front door! We thought it was going to come pre-finished, but it didn't. I don't know how we missed that, but whatever. It just means that in addition to picking out all of the paint colors for the house, we have to pick out the door color too. It is a beautiful door though and we're very happy with how well it fits with the craftsman feel of the house. These aren't great photos, but the sun had set by the time we finished. I'll try to get some better pictures over the weekend.

Interior Walls

No, it's not abstract photography...it's our interior walls!

Walking in from the garage, you enter the mudroom. This is the back mudroom door with a closet on each side.

Through the mudroom is a hallway that leads to the kitchen. To the right is the half bath, then the front entry & to the left is the laundry room and the doorway to the family room.

The stairs go up in the Family Room.

At the top of the stairs in the Master Bedroom.

And the Master Bath

This is my tub!!

And Ryan's shower - nice of him to demonstrate how it's used huh?

And this is Brody's room.

There are a ton more pictures, but honestly how many 2x4's do people really need to see? Stay tuned...the plumber comes next week!

Child Labor Laws?

So there is a huge update that needs to be done, but I haven't taken the photos yet! All of the interior walls have been framed and we have the tub and shower for the master bathroom. Ryan met with the geothermal company today and the plumber is scheduled to start the rough plumbing next week. It's all coming together! We ordered our siding last night and...oh yeah, the interior door knobs should be coming on Friday (yes, I realize that we don't have interior doors yet, but I'm still excited about the knobs coming!)

So to satisfy everyone's thirst for more photos, I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce the newest addition to the framing crew, Mr. Brody McCarthy. He picked up his father's stilleto like a natural and went to work on the garage stairs! I can't even begin to describe the look of pride that washed over Ryan's face!

Windows!!

That's right WINDOWS! Ryan finished the roof last week - thank you Lord for getting him off of the roof safely! Ryan worked the schedule so the windows were delivered at just the right time, and Ryan and Clint installed 30 of the 50 windows yesterday. That has to be some sort of record! They are AWESOME! I can't even describe how good they look - the photos just don't do them justice.

Ryan met with the plumber yesterday and it looks like he's going to come sometime next week, which means that we had to order the tub last night. I can't believe that we're actually at a point where we need plumbing fixtures! Of course we started buying them before we had even sold the house in Goffstown. Everyone laughed at us then, but it has come in very handy to already have all the plumbing fixtures picked out and paid for at this point! So see everyone, our early planning and bargain shopping is paying off!

The finished roof (still has the staging brackets on it for window installation)

Farmer's porch window! This was one of the many last minute changes. It was going to be a square awning window, but we decided to make it a little bigger and Ry got out the saws-all! Yes, we are a builder's nightmare - thank goodness we're our own builders!

The front of the house with all the windows in! Ahhh - it's SO cool!

This window in the kitchen is my absolute favorite. I will gladly do dishes in the kitchen sink while looking out this window!

Another shot of the front of the house!

A Roof & More Concrete

So the roof is almost done...(which is not reflected in these slightly out-dated photos). Ryan has worked at lightening speed and the roof should be completely shingled this afternoon - with the exception of the ridge cap. It looks AWESOME!

The concrete guys came to pour the floor in the garage yesterday and will come tomorrow to pour the basement floor. Ryan brought Brody out to the house yesterday morning to watch the pour. I don't think Brody could have had a better birthday present than going to work with Daddy and watching the big mixer trucks! By the end of the morning he was barking out orders to the crew! It figures!

Even ominous weather didn't keep Ryan off the roof!

Brody, patiently waiting for the concrete crew to start pouring!

Brody is overseeing the works, making sure they're not cutting corners! He runs a tight ship.

They had to cut a hole in the mudroom floor to pour into the section of basement under it. This section is shorter than the rest of the basement and will hold all of the water equipment.

That's all - stay tuned!
